Tips on detailing your old school car

Those not familiar with the phrase old school it simply refers to cars that are from 1985 or older and usually referring to domestic but imports can be included also.

There are some basic things to remember and to avoid and to focus on older cars. here are some tips for detailing your old school car.

Paint. With older cars that have original paint or have been painted years ago, your paint may be thin, meaning you may not want to start applying a wax or compound because it may remove more paint now your at primer. I recommend a paint gauge it will tell you exactly how much paint it left on car, but this option is expensive if you don’t already have one or know somebody that has one, so the best way to detail the car is to simply use a high quality spray wax product. With spray wax you will get a great shine and will not remove any paint.

Chrome. Chrome is such a prominent feature on older cars, but it can be dull or faded. The best way it to get a buff, mask off anything you don’t want to get covered with product from polishing and start shining that chrome up, even better if you can remove it and use a buffing wheel.

Lights. Have you ever noticed plastic parts like taillights and marker lights on the sides of the car can start to fade? now if the time to get some compound and clean them up not only will your car look better, but it will be safer because  the light will shine brighter!!
