The top 5 car detailing tips YOU NEVER thought about!

When it comes to car detailing it is the little things we often forget, these 5 car detailing tip will keep your car looking good all year, but will also make it easier for to keep the car clean and will save you MONEY in the long run.

  1. Rims.  The rims are the the most neglected part of the car literally, but VERY expensive to replace with the average factory rim costing anywhere from $200 – $1,000.  The enemy of your cars wheels is brake dust, road salt, heat and other contaminants.  I can’t even begin to tell you how many damaged and destroyed wheels i see and all it takes is a simple wipe down weekly or bi-weekly to remove dirt.  Brake dust actually destroys the wheel coating and erodes the finish it is very acidic YOU MUST remove  brake dust A.S.A.P!
  2. Undercarriage. The underside of your car and the wheel wells get really dirty and never get a good cleaning, that means if you live in an area where there is road salt like Chicago, that salt is rusting the bottom of your car!  YOU MUST pressure spray the underside and wheels wells of you car during the winter regularly and in the spring to get all or as much salt as possible off the vehicle.
  3. Carpets.  those of you with those nice expensive floor liners congratulations!  you have made a great investment in protecting your cars interior, the rest of you; pay attention road salt in the winter is not oly bad for the exterior but really bad for your cars carpet. Salt stains the carpet and damages the fabric so remember in spring it is a good time to remove and clean as much salt off the cars carpets as possible.
  4. Paint.  Your cars paint is attacked by many airborne contaminants, but there is help you should apply a paint sealant to your cars paint at least once a year, but two time a year is optimal. Sealant when it cures is like a hard coating over your cars paint and will protect it from the harsh elements and if you drive your car everyday a sealant is a MUST.
  5. Headlights.  have you seen cars with those hazy headlights?  looks horrible right? if your light are already hazy they need to have a professional restore them, but before this happens apply a little paint sealant to the headlights regularly. This will help or delay them from hazing, it will happen but the sealant will slow down the process.
